How to keep competitive battlecards credible

Maintain battlecards that support honest and useful sales conversations.

Understand the decision

For each material statement, retain its source, capture date, observed fact, and confidence. Separate public facts, customer reports, and internal interpretation. Avoid speculation about a competitor's intent, roadmap, or universal weakness.

Put the practice to work

Organize the card around buyer choices: when each option fits, discovery questions, proof to use, and risks to acknowledge. Include the status quo and internal build because buyers often compare against other uses of time, not only named vendors.

Review and improve

Give every card an owner and expiry date, with earlier review when packaging, positioning, leadership, or core capabilities change. Provide sales a simple correction route and keep a visible change record.
