Build a GTM metrics tree teams can actually use

Connect company outcomes with controllable customer and operating signals.

Understand the decision

Define one company outcome precisely, including period, population, source, and owner. Map customer behaviors and processes that may contribute. Mark uncertain relationships because the tree is a hypothesis, not proof of causation.

Put the practice to work

Pair lagging results with earlier signals such as qualified evaluations, activation milestones, and successful handoffs. Define denominators and date rules; different definitions can make accurate systems appear to disagree.

Review and improve

For every recurring measure, name who reviews it, when, what range deserves attention, and which actions are available. Revisit the tree when the model changes and remove measures that no longer guide decisions.
