Make the Go-To-Market Strategy And Revenue Operations Handoff Survive a Second Reviewer
Transfer GTM work with its current state, accepted next owner, source material and a clear definition of completion.

Describe the work being transferred
Name the campaign, account or launch activity and the specific responsibility moving to another person. State the current condition and the next action required. A handoff should distinguish work that is ready to continue from work still waiting for an input.
Link the governing brief and current asset version. Include important decisions and open questions without requiring the recipient to reconstruct an entire chat history. Keep confidential material in the approved system with appropriate access.
Make acceptance explicit
Identify the receiving owner and ask them to confirm that they can access the sources and understand the next action. Record acceptance separately from the time the handoff was sent. Until acceptance, the outgoing owner remains responsible for tracking the transition under the team’s process.
If the proposed recipient cannot take the work, record the reason and return it to the assigning lead. Do not silently substitute an available colleague for someone with the required authority or expertise.
Carry dependencies and deadlines forward
Record the next commitment, its time zone where relevant and the dependency that could prevent completion. Include the agreed escalation route and any action the recipient must not take without approval.
Separate a customer-facing promise from an internal target. When a deadline cannot be met, the responsible owner decides how the commitment changes and who must be informed. The handoff record preserves that decision.
Example: transferring a partner webinar
Illustrative handoff: a launch coordinator transfers a partner webinar to a colleague before leave. The record links the approved invitation, the speaker confirmation and the registration page, while identifying one outstanding recording permission.
The receiving coordinator confirms access and accepts the task of obtaining the permission. The record states that the replay cannot be published until the designated owner approves it. This keeps an unresolved condition from disappearing during the transition.
Check the destination after transfer
Verify that the task appears in the receiving workflow with its source links and next date intact. Close the transfer when acceptance and the destination check are recorded, not merely when the outgoing message has been sent.
Use failed handoffs to improve the packet. Repeated access problems may call for an access check before transfer; recurring confusion about ownership may require a clearer assignment rule. Preserve the history so both teams can see what changed.
