Give Every Go-To-Market Strategy And Revenue Operations Queue Item One Owner
Give each campaign or launch request a clear next owner, an actionable state and a visible escalation path.

Define what ownership means in each state
List the states used in the queue and the responsibility attached to each. A request awaiting copy, approval or publication needs different action. Name who ensures progress and who has authority to make the required decision.
Keep the queue’s administrative maintainer distinct from the person accountable for delivery. The coordinator can keep records current and flag missing information without becoming the default owner of every blocked task.
Assign the next action with the owner
Record the requested outcome, current source, next action and expected response date. Make the action specific enough that the owner can accept it or identify what prevents progress. A person’s name beside an unexplained blocked label is not a workable assignment.
Confirm acceptance when work moves between teams. If the recipient rejects the assignment, route the ownership question to the responsible lead and keep it visible. Do not leave a task apparently assigned to someone who has not agreed to take it.
Keep waiting work visible
Distinguish waiting for an external response, waiting for an internal decision and actively being worked. Record the dependency and the person responsible for obtaining it. Use a next-check date appropriate to the commitment.
Provide backup coverage for unavailable owners and a clear escalation route for missed commitments. Changing ownership should transfer the context and source links, not simply move the item to another person’s list.
Example: an asset stalls between approval and publishing
Illustrative request: a partner email is approved, but nobody has accepted the publishing task. Marketing considers its review complete while operations sees no assigned action. The queue maintainer records the approved asset and flags the missing receiving owner.
The lead assigns publication to a named person who accepts the task and confirms the send preparation. The review owner remains visible in the history, while the current next action has a clear accountable recipient.
Close the queue item against the outcome
Define the completion evidence for the workflow, such as the published asset, accepted handoff or confirmed cancellation. Keep the requester informed through the agreed channel and preserve any remaining limitation.
Review unassigned items, repeatedly transferred tasks and long waits for patterns. Improve the routing rule or intake guidance when the same ownership gap returns. A queue is useful when its states tell people what should happen next.
