Turn the GTM Risk Register Into a Monthly Decision
Turn a GTM risk-register review into a focused set of decisions, accepted exposures and owned follow-up actions.

Prepare the changes since the last review
Compare current risk entries with the previous accepted version. Highlight new exposures, changed likelihood or impact, overdue responses and approaching decision points. Link the evidence behind each material change.
Keep unchanged low-priority entries available for reference without reading the entire register aloud. The review agenda should make it obvious which items require a decision and which are updates only.
Test the response against current evidence
Ask the risk owner what has changed because of the response. A completed action does not automatically mean the exposure has reduced. Check whether the dependency, customer consequence or delivery constraint remains.
Identify actions whose evidence is missing or whose assumptions no longer hold. Record the uncertainty and the next information needed. The coordinator should preserve the distinction between an owner’s expectation and a confirmed result.
Record decisions with authority and limits
For each decision, record the responsible approver, agreed response, remaining exposure and next review condition. If the team accepts a risk, make the scope and basis of that acceptance visible. Do not let silence in a meeting stand in for an explicit decision.
Route decisions beyond the group’s authority to the appropriate lead. Keep the pending decision and its effect on the launch plan visible so other teams do not treat an unresolved question as approval to proceed.
Example: a launch dependency passes its decision date
Illustrative review: a required partner approval is still missing at the planned decision point. The risk owner presents the latest correspondence and the prepared fallback. The authorized launch lead chooses the fallback and assigns the communication changes.
The coordinator updates the launch record, action owners and next check. The risk remains open until the replacement plan is confirmed. At the next review, the team checks that the agreed change actually reached the affected work rather than merely appearing in the minutes.
