Does Go-To-Market Strategy And Revenue Operations Handover Quality Survive a Role Change?
Check whether open GTM commitments remain usable and owned when a coordinator changes roles or leaves an assignment.

Freeze the commitments at transfer
Record the effective transfer date and the open work being handed over. Include external promises, recurring reviews and unresolved decisions as well as project tasks. Preserve the original due dates and recipient expectations.
This is a proposed continuity review, not a measured staffing outcome. Keep planned transitions and unplanned gaps distinguishable because the available preparation differs. Do not treat a new name in a project tool as proof that responsibility was accepted.
Test the receiving owner’s next action
For each commitment, identify the current state, next decision, source material and person expecting the result. Ask the receiving owner to find the approved version and explain the next action from the handover record.
Check access through the organization’s approved process. Record an unavailable resource as a blocker and route it to the authorized owner. Never move credentials into handover notes or assume that sharing an old account is an acceptable shortcut.
Follow the first due commitments
Inspect work that becomes due shortly after transfer. Record whether the receiving owner accepted it, requested clarification, delivered it or escalated a problem. Separate changed scope from a missed original commitment.
Illustrative finding: a partner launch deadline is listed, but its regional contact and approval condition are absent. The incoming coordinator obtains those details, confirms the current promise and saves the correspondence with the handover record.
Close the transition with evidence
Keep unresolved items visible until an accountable person accepts the next action. Record delivery evidence, revised commitments and approved cancellations separately. Review recurring tasks so they are not lost simply because no single deadline appears in the queue.
Summarize the gaps by cause and update the handover requirements accordingly. Recheck the receiving team after its first operating cycle. A useful transition record lets work continue without repeatedly relying on the former owner’s memory.
